School Days (with SPOILERS, oh NO)

Oh look, I just remembered that I made this to ramble about anime and shiz. Here we go~!

I just watched the entire School Days series yesterday. Yeah, I know, I'm late. Anyway... I can't decide if I want to laugh or be horrified. At the end, I mean. Then again, the end is probably the only reason I continued watching this trainwreck. If I didn't know the basics of what was going to happen, I would have totally snubbed this show. High school love stories are boring to me. On the other hand, stories about crazy people? Sign me up!

It left me feeling pretty much the same way I thought, except I couldn't sleep very well last night. Basically, I wanted everyone in the show to die excluding Kotonoha, Kokoro, Setsuna, and Nanami. Too bad only Sekai and Makoto die. They're the main ones I wanted to kill off anyway.

Why does no one (except Kotonoha and Setsuna (Maybe? She had a motive other than "o lol im jsut horniii")) know how to say "no"? Geez. And Makoto is an utter retard. "Hay guise I'm gunna dump my totally awesome girlfriend for an obnoxious whore without telling my original totally awesome girlfriend lolz! and, and then, i'm like, going to have wild sex with every single girl i come into vauge contact with! look at me go~!"

And yes, Kotonoha is totally awesome. A little crazy, but awesome. She's so cute, especially when she's happy~ Too bad Makoto is a dick. She should have picked someone else. Then again, if it wasn't for Magical Busybody ZA WARUDO, maybe she could have ended up, you know, not crazy, and with someone that didn't suck. But I guess then we wouldn't have a story. (not that I am saying Kotonoha is perfect, or something. she's stupidly loyal, and clings to preconceived notions of people, which is one of my pet peeves, at least in real life. fictional characters have a little more leeway because their stupidity is the fault of the writer(s), not themselves.)

Which leads me to my final conclusion: The School Days anime is a cruel marketing ploy. I mean, most anime is just long infomercials for games, manga, figurines, hug pillows, other useless merchandise, etc etc, but School Days is a dick about it. Not only is it censored, so they're telling you to go buy the DVDs, BUT, everyone ends up so fucked over that it almost makes one want to play the game to give (insert favorite character) a happy ending. Did it succeed? I don't know. I'm probably not going to purchase the game unless that translation project gets finished, and even then I don't know.

Even so, I liked the series. Not enough to watch it again or buy DVDs, but the character designs were nice, it invoked an emotional response, and... I don't know. Maybe I just like fucked up endings. I liked that the characters actually behaved like people (albeit stupid, fucked up people, but you know what I mean).

Meh, I'll shut up and go watch the OVAs now.
